Atitlan Agricultural Platform
Context
The Atitlan Group agricultural platform was established in 2007 through its entry into the sector as a founding partner of Elaia, a company specialising in olive cultivation and olive oil production. Through Elaia and other businesses, Atitlan transformed more than 20,000 hectares of diverse crops — principally olive groves, almond, citrus and pistachio plantations — across the Iberian Peninsula and Morocco, building a leading regional position founded on deep production expertise.
Challenge
The challenge was to develop a scalable and sustainable agricultural platform capable of achieving category leadership, while promoting environmental sustainability, professionalising land management, and generating stable employment in local communities.
Results
The platform delivered highly significant results. Food waste was eliminated, achieving 0% loss, and operations evolved in a way that preserved total production while consistently meeting safe and sustainable standards. Building on this trajectory, in 2024 the Group launched ATGRO, an agricultural platform regulated by the CNMV, integrating its production and financial expertise within a single global investment and project management platform.
Atitlan Aquaculture Platform
Context
The Group’s aquaculture platform is centred on the sustainable production of premium sole and has built a leading position in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Through Sea Eight, the platform has become the leading European producer in its category. Its land-based production model reflects a strong commitment to sustainability, significantly reducing environmental impact and water consumption while ensuring consistently high product quality.
Challenge
The challenge was to build a sustainable aquaculture platform capable of reinforcing the Group’s leadership in the European market, while responding to the sector’s structural demands. This required the development of proprietary technology, the minimisation of environmental impact, the assurance of the highest food safety standards, and the consolidation of a differentiated position within the global aquaculture industry.
Results
The platform’s trajectory has been remarkable. In just over a decade, it established itself as the European leader in sole production. This progress was driven by an in-house recirculation technology that enabled the operation to eliminate impact on marine ecosystems, reduce the use of new water to less than 3% of operational requirements, optimise process control, and comply with the most demanding food safety standards.
As a result, the Group has consolidated its position as an international reference point in the production of a premium food product with high gastronomic value.
